If you decide to come in the beginning of the year don't miss the New Years' Eve euphoria and the traditional religious activities that take place in January (the most famous one being Vodici when over one thousand people enter in the freezing water to catch the holy cross). In the summer there are more cultural and sport events namely, Ohrid Marathon, Ohrid Summer Festival, Balkan Folklore Festival, Balkan Square Festival. Both spring and autumnal period are good choice for people that want to avoid the crowd but still take advantage of the warm and pleasant climate.
